First comes the 5-week stint at the training center/boot camp. In the first three days, new recruits receive their supplies. These supplies include everything, including uniform, boots, and underwear. Strictly speaking, no soldier in the training center is allowed to have any private item – everything is provided by the military. In practice, soldiers in the training center are generally allowed to have a spare pair of glasses, a watch, a small amount of cash, etc. There is more leeway with respect to personal items once the men are assigned to their bases.
The recruits’ personal items – usually the clothes in which they come into the boot camp – are packed up and sent back to their parents. It is the quintessential Korean mother’s experience to cry over her son’s dusty clothes mailed back to her after she sent her son away for his military service.
New recruits are then given a physical. Then the new recruits receive an exam that would determine their specialty as a soldier. This is based on their college major, career background, etc. However, this is far from a scientific process; more like a rough guess. For example, many math majors are assigned to artillery because firing a cannon requires a quick number-crunching ability. But it is not as if these men are tested as to how fast they can actually calculate things.
Once the specialties are assigned, the new recruits are trained to be soldiers. They receive their weapons, learn how to shoot rifles and throw grenades, learn how to march and patrol, etc. It is more or less the training you might see in a movie – they go through marches with full gear (around 55 to 60 pounds) during the day and at night, learn how to fight with bayonet, train how to use their hazmat masks and sit through tear gas, learn how to dig trenches and encamp, learn first aid, etc. After five weeks of this, the soldiers are assigned to their bases.
So, Jaejoong achieved 19 accurate shots out of 20 in Shooting Training, He ranked 15th in running out of 200+++ trainees and achieved a reward from his good results in Grenade training! (x) congratulations Jaejoong^^

To. Two of MY PEOPLE
Read this letter, my members.
How are you. I am doing fine. Military service really depends on your perspective of things. It’s tolerable if you think positively, and really hard if you are pessimistic. But, it’s really okay. Seriously. Butㅜㅜ duty is so hard..
Yuchun will be enlisted on 27th, right? Fighting to you, you will have great time as a trainee. And Junsu, you should make a lot of memories before enlisting next year.
After I enlisted, I realized that it was wrong to think that 2 years of my life would be wasted. It would make cherishable things more cherishing, and deepest thoughts, even deeper. It’s like reading many books, meeting and talking to different people. And you start to cherish the memories that come back as you tell our own story, too. (A week) before enlisting, Kyung-Gu hyung came over to music video shooting and told me many things about the military. One of the things he said was, “Jaejoong, think of the military service as repaying the debt you owe to this country you were born.” I think that makes sense. Because I was born in this country, I was able to meet you two and the fans who love us. I will work hard to repay this debt during the rest of my military service. It’s really worth it when I think about it this way.
I don’t worry about you two.
I know that as long as we keep trusting and relying on each other, we will be together for life.
You are the two people I respect the most.
You are the two people who warm up my heart the most.
You are the two people who are the most decent.
You two are the reason I live.
Let us be happier in the future. You two make hyung’s world worth living in♥
And I never use red hearts to men.
look the reality is that stan culture is unhealthy. period.
and i’m not talking about being a fan of someone and wanting to go see them on tour. im not talking about being happy when they drop something new or reach a cool milestone. im not talking about writing fanfiction and using them as a face character. im not talking about making edits/gifs of them, or anything like that.
im talking about dedicating your life to this person. seeing them as some sort of deity who can do no wrong. monitoring their every move and always being ready with a comment/opinion/statement. feeling like you owe them something and that you alone are the key that will make or break their career.
feeling like you need to defend them no matter what.
attacking strangers just because they may not necessarily agree. creating drama day after day to the point where your online presence is just a steady stream of negativity with no end in sight.
the internet has desensitized us to stan culture, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not wrong. it’s dangerous and gross and at this point, im afraid that most people are too far gone to recognise just how much of a horrible impact it’s made on our lives.
• Sadistic Beauty It’s discontinued (I think ?) but still, there are already quite a bit of chapters out
• Sensei no Shiroi Uso I’m pretty hooked but I also find it uselessly heavy, as incite a lot of characters act in a pretty illogical way that makes it hard to grow really attached to them. Well even if this doesn’t make sense it probs will after trying to read it.
i would love to say im surprised that ppl are turning blacklivesmatter into ammunition for a stan war but tbh this is just the natural conclusion of stan culture. morals are no longer individually curated through introspection nd critical thinking everyone turns to a celebrity they think is ‘unproblematic’ nd center their whole mindsets around their fandom. ppl are harassing their faves not bc they want them to use their platform to spread awareness but bc they want the ‘clout’ of knowing their fave is ‘woke’. social justice isn’t abt changing the world anymore it’s abt looking good nd having bragging rights. like? other ppl are praising their faves for just posting a hashtag nd condemning others when IT DOESN’T MATTER! yes celebrities SHOULD speak up nd they SHOULD open their pockets bc all popular culture is built on the backs of black ppl but this is not a stan war. amerikkka is literally trying to declare war on all black ppl nd the ppl that support us i shouldnt be seeing manifestos abt why bts are too important to speak out or why this group is better than that group bc someone put a pic of george floyd on their insta story. like? can y’all separate yourselves from your fandoms for just a moment? can u care abt black lives without making it abt your fandom? can y’all actually, genuinely care abt us for once?
